Power of the Purse 2020

Fond du Lac Area Women’s Fund announces its 16th annual “Power of the Purse” luncheon, its largest fundraiser, on Wednesday, April 22nd , at Radisson Conference Center. Registration, networking, and prize baskets raffle start at 10:30 a.m., with the luncheon and program from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

The Power of the Purse is our largest annual event and attracts 400 attendees. During the 2020 luncheon, we will feature keynote speaker Mike Domitrz of Milwaukee’s Center for Respect, honor a local woman with our annual Women of Achievement Award and give a report to the community on our previous year’s accomplishments. Proceeds from the event specifically support our efforts to educate, empower and inspire women and girls through grant-making, focused initiatives and advocacy efforts.

Although we historically feature a woman as keynote, this year’s event speaker fits with the direction of our Fond du Lac Says No More initiative in striving to engage more men and boys in ending violence against women and children. Mike founded The Date Safe Project (now The Center for Respect) in Milwaukee and conducts thousands of training sessions annually. A luncheon highlight will be presentation of 2020’s “Women of Achievement” award, honoring local women whose tireless efforts, through visionary thinking, entrepreneurial spirit, leadership, and/or philanthropy, made a significant difference, or greatly enhanced, quality of life in our community. The 2020 recipient is Valerie Graczyk. Past recipients are: Daisy Frazier, Sandi Braun Roehrig, Marian Sheridan, Terri Emanuel, Dottie Keenan, Patricia Miller, Dawn Colwin and Dorothy Klumpyan, Jo Ann Ward, Judy Goldsmith, Barbara Lent, Virginia Gilmore, Mary Fran Merwin, Ruth Michels, Dr. Joan Regan, Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes, and Shelly Stayer.
