Grantmaking to Grow Opportunities

Grant Application

Grant Year: 2021-22

Welcome to the Fond du Lac Area Women’s Fund grant application process. Before you begin your application, please review information below related to our Funding Priorities, Criteria for Funding and Eligibility.

Funding Priorities

We award grants to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations for programs/projects primarily benefiting women and/or girls in Fond du Lac County.

As we adjust to the impact of the pandemic, specifically related to the findings of COVID-19’s Impact on Women in Northeastern Wisconsin Survey, we recognize a need to expand our support of women and girls to address Health and Well-Being. At its August 2021 meeting, our Board of Directors took action to add a fifth pillar of focus to the foundation that guides our grantmaking process. Your partnership with us must align with at least one of our five pillars. They are:

We will be limiting the maximum amount of each grant request this year to $2,500 apiece to greater maximize funds available.

Projects/programming specifically aligned with the findings in the COVID-19 Impact Survey are especially encouraged and we strongly recommend you utilize the data within the report and the accompanying dashboard to make your case for support. The report and dashboard can be found here.

Additionally, we are committed to improving diversity, equity and inclusion efforts for women and girls throughout Fond du Lac County. We understand that how DEI is defined within each agency may vary somewhat, so we’ve created our own Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Positioning Statement to better help you understand our definition. We encourage you to read the full statement here.

The Women’s Fund will not fund individuals, endowments, government agencies (educational institutions may qualify), projects with a religious purpose, and political parties, candidates or partisan activities.

The 2021 application period opens at 8 a.m. Sept. 1 and closes at 4 p.m. Oct. 15 (no exceptions). Funds will be disbursed in mid-December.

Criteria for Funding

The following criteria will be used in the decision-making process. Applications are to be completed online and Women’s Fund will conduct applicant interviews of finalists. To be considered, applications must:

  1. Describe how the request is targeted to primarily benefit Fond du Lac area women and/or girls. Programs for men and boys could also meet this criteria.
  2. Describe how the request addresses at least one Women’s Fund funding priority.
  3. Define program/project’s anticipated outcomes, including short-term and long-term goals, as well as a description of method for evaluation of success.
  4. Describe target population including demographic information, number of individuals served directly and impact on community, including indirect impact.
  5. Describe methods/strategies that will be used for effective implementation.
  6. Include a timeline and budget that is clear and concise.
  7. Plan for a 20-minute interview on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021 (between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.) with no more than two agency representatives appearing in front of the Women’s Fund Grants Committee. These will likely go back to an in-person format, but we’ll monitor safety guidelines as the date draws near and determine if we need to shift accordingly.

*Note: If funded, you agree to complete and submit our evaluation form as required by 4 p.m. Oct. 1, and if requested, be willing to present the evaluation at a Board meeting. Future grants will not be considered without a final grant evaluation on file. The Women’s Fund reserves the right to request return of any funds not used for purposes stated within original grant request and/or if funds were not utilized in the grant period stated.
