Women of Achievement

Congrats Marian Sheridan, 2017 Woman of Achievement

Fond du Lac Area Women’s Fund named Marian Sheridan as 2017 recipient of its Women of Achievement award. This award honors local women who, through visionary thinking, entrepreneurial spirit, leadership, or philanthropy, made a significant difference in the quality of life in this community.

About Marian

As Administrator of School Health, Safety, Attendance and Transportation for the Fond du Lac School District, Sheridan’s goal is to support the health and safety needs of students so they can have successful academic and behavioral outcomes. In addition, her many accomplishments include oversight and implementation of the Fond du Lac Area YScreen Program, screening over 11,000 students’ emotional health and connecting 1,800 with services and CSI, Comprehensive Service Integration, aimed at improving the social, emotional and behavior outcomes across the lifespan. During her long tenure with Fond du Lac County Health Department, her efforts in tobacco control and prevention decreased tobacco consumption and led to local and state legislation.

“Ms. Sheridan also brought the vision of implementing Girls on the Run, a program teaching life skills through interactive lessons and running games to girls in grades 3-8, to the Women’s Fund when it started with just one team. We’ve been proud to support its growth from one team of
15 girls, to 16 teams of 15-18 girls, and grateful to her for bringing us that opportunity”, said Lori Namur, Women’s Fund executive director.

While her lifetime passion is improving social, emotional and physical health outcomes for children, families and the community, Sheridan says her greatest achievement is her family.

The award presentation was held at the “Power of the Purse” luncheon, Wednesday, April 19th, 2017, at Holiday Inn Conference Center.
